Despite the seemingly calm and peaceful beauty found in Bredahl’s drawings, an irresistible delicate fragility is also felt. Praised for their cobweb lightness and strength, they do not sway from reporting on life’s more difficult issues, be they perilous or disturbing, on vulnerability and on beauty. Executed in a figuratively folkloristic style, hovering with imagery of mythical narratives and detached magical exactness, Bredahl’s seemingly never-ending associatively subliminal tales are fleshed out through recognisably recurrent characters, often appearing in sequences of transformation and metamorphosis, a central characteristic acting both as subject and theme within the narrative of the work.
